Baccarat Regulations
Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards in a shoe. Cards below a value of ten are of their printed number while at the same time ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each applied a value of 1. Bets are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual players; they just represent the 2 hands to be played).
2 hands of 2 cards are then given to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The value for each hand shall be the total of the 2 cards, but the 1st digit is dropped. For e.g., a hand of seven and five has a total of 2 (7plus5=twelve; drop the ‘1′).
A third card might be played depending on the foll. protocols:
- If the player or banker has a value of eight or nine, then both gamblers stand.
- If the gambler has five or lower, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.
- If bettor stands, the banker hits of 5 or less. If the player hits, a chart is used to decide if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The larger of the 2 scores wins. Victorious stakes on the banker pay nineteen to twenty (even odds less a 5% commission. Commission is monitored and moved out when you leave the table so ensure you have funds left before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay 1 to 1. Winning bets for tie generally pay eight to 1 and occasionally nine to one. (This is a crazy wager as ties will happen less than one every 10 hands. Stay away from putting money on a tie. Regardless odds are decidedly better – nine to 1 versus 8 to one)
When done smartly, baccarat offers relatively good odds, away from the tie bet obviously.
Baccarat Strategy
As with every games, Baccarat has some common false impressions. 1 of which is close to a roulette misconception. The past is never actually an actual indicator of future results.
