Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards. Cards which are valued less than ten are counted at their printed number while at the same time ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each equal to 1. Bets are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual persons; they only represent the 2 hands to be played).

2 hands of 2 cards are then dealt to the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The value for each hand will be the total of the two cards, but the first digit is discarded. For eg, a hand of 7 … five will have a total of two (sevenplusfive=12; drop the ‘one’).

A 3rd card may be dealt depending on the following guidelines:

- If the player or banker has a value of 8 or 9, then both bettors stand.

- If the bettor has five or less, he hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If player stands, the banker hits of 5 or less. If the gambler hits, a chart might be used to decide if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The larger of the 2 scores wins. Victorious stakes on the banker pay at 19 to twenty (even odds less a five percent commission. Commission is kept track of and cleared out when you leave the table so be sure to have funds left before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to one. Winner bets for tie commonly pays out at eight to 1 but occasionally nine to one. (This is not a good bet as ties will occur less than 1 every 10 hands. Run away from placing bets on a tie. Nevertheless odds are far better – 9 to 1 versus eight to 1)

Played correctly, baccarat presents pretty good odds, aside from the tie bet obviously.

Baccarat Tactics

As with just about all games, Baccarat has some well-known misconceptions. 1 of which is very similar to a roulette misconception. The past is in no way an actual indicator of future events. Keeping track of last results on a chart is a total waste of paper … a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.

The most popular and probably most successful strategy is the 1-three-two-6 concept. This schema is deployed to boost successes and limiting risk.

Begin by betting 1 unit. If you win, add one more to the 2 on the table for a total of 3 on the second bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, subtract 4 so you have two on the 3rd gamble. If you win the 3rd gamble, add two to the 4 on the table for a grand total of 6 on the 4th gamble.

If you lose on the initial bet, you take a loss of one. A win on the first bet followed by loss on the second brings about a loss of two. Wins on the 1st two with a loss on the third gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first three with a loss on the fourth mean you breakeven. Winning at all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of ten. Therefore that you can lose the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
